Heart of Light Meditation • Coming Home Meditation Room
Mondays from 6:30 to 8:15pm
Come join us for an evening of silent meditation in sacred community. Silent meditation gives one the space to unfold and relax into one’s natural and undivided self. This practice is excellent for maintaining a life of well being while consciously continuing along a path of self care and discovery. In practicing together, we support each other in our individual processes as well as being with what is, exactly as it is in the present moment.
This event is led in a satsang style, including a talk about an aspect of the path of meditation and an interactive exploration that gives the participants the opportunity to consciously open into their deepest selves. This group is offered every Monday evening at the East Bay Healing Collective, and draws upon teachings from many traditions including Advaita Vedanta, Western Non-dualism, and indigenous traditions of North and South America.
Open to everyone and well-suited for beginners and experienced meditators alike, a typical evening includes 40-45 minutes of meditation, a talk inspired by various spiritual teachings, and interactive time of Q & A / discussion. One only needs the openness to sit with oneself, the curiosity to be with what arises, and the courage to be honest about what is discovered.
If you are new to meditation and would like some extra guidance or have questions, feel free to come a few minutes early and/or stay a few minutes late! Further your practice with us, or come dip a toe into a quiet reflective space and explore what is here for you. The sangha is entirely free: participants can leave cash donations at the end only if they chose to do so.
Most Mondays of the year, Mike McGarry leads the sangha and gives the dharma talk; you can hear his past dharma talks here. If you have any questions, you are welcome to email Mike.
Saturday Night Sangha • Coming Home Meditation Room
Saturdays from 6 to 7:30pm
Originally established in Berkeley in 2008, the Saturday Night Sangha has grown to become a vibrant community that embraces diversity in age, ethnicity and spiritual background. We are a peer-led group of spiritual friends whose members come from a variety of different contemplative traditions. A typical gathering will be facilitated by one of our experienced practitioners. We begin with forty minutes of meditation, followed by a brief talk. We then leave a half-hour for open discussion in order to allow everyone an opportunity to share their views. Often, there evolves a deep resonance of presence in the room, as we listen deeply to one another, and share with open hearts. Once every three months, we hold one kirtan and one party.
We meet from 6pm-7:30pm every Saturday night at the East Bay Healing Collective (1840 Alcatraz Avenue, Berkeley, CA), and often go out for dinner afterward. We are a donation-based group, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. You are warmly invited to attend. No need to RSVP. If you have any questions, you are welcome to email Mike.
